Terry McGill-
Terry McGill has played the banjo since age 13. Growing up in Northern New Jersey may not seem like the most direct way to Country Music fame, but thanks to Terry's Dad there were always country and bluegrass records. Within two years of starting to play, Terry was playing locally with several bands. Naturally Terry's obsession with traditional Country and Bluegrass music would eventually lead him to radio. From 1988-1992, Terry hosted "The Country and Bluegrass Round-Up" on WFDU fm in Teaneck, NJ. In demand in the studio, Terry has recorded with several artists / groups including Straight Drive, The David Hampton Band, The Old Time Bluegrass Singers, The Dixie Bee Liners, and others. In 2001 Terry released his first solo recording entitled "Straight Drive." His debut recording has received airplay nationwide and was even featured on Hairl Hensley's "The Early Bird Gets the Bluegrass Show" on WSM in Nashville, TN. Terry has also been highlighted in the Banjo Newsletter and is the author of a banjo instruction manual for Mel Bay Publications. Terry has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Ralph Stanley's Hills of Home Festival in McClure, VA, aboard the "Mississippi Queen" steamboat, and bluegrass festivals around the United States. Terry's influences are all old time country and bluegrass greats including The Lilly Brothers and Don Stover, Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper, Flatt and Scruggs, Red Allen, The Stanley Brothers, Lee Moore and a host of other obscure stars. His playing can certainly be compared to the greats and he is one of the finest of the "Scruggs" style players. Terry makes his home in Hasbrouck Heights New Jersey where he also has an extensive collection of Country Music memorabilla including items from "The Wheeling Jamboree"
